In Zuric at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the University one of the most advanced humanoid robots will be created named Roboy.
It is a tenden driven robot modeled on human beings which will give them a more fulid and elegant movement. Normally robots have their motors in their joints giving them a stiff look.
Roboy is going to be a service robot and since Roboy will be living with people a sort of soft skin,which is soft to the touch,interaction and movements, will be applied which will help make the robot safer to use and more pleasent to the eye.
Many service robots are already being used in a wide range of ares. We have robots doing household chores, surveillance work. We have them homes and hospitals
Roboticists suggest that with an aging population that caring for aged people will become increasingly more important with service robots being in greater and greater need.
The researchers at the AI Lab has set a goal of creating Royboy in 9 months and planned on being reviled at the Robots on Tour, an exhibition of robots, humanoids, cyborgs and more,on March 8th and 9th,2013 in Zurich.
In order to try to meet the deadline they have decided to use crowdfunding in order to finance their project.
