It was known that the government was spraying "harmless" zinc cadmium silfide particles over the city of St Louis but Lisa Martino-Taylor claims that a radioactive additive was also mixed with the compound.
She has accrued descriptions as well as photographs of the spraying which exposed the public, predominantly in poor and minority communities.

In the city of Corpus Christi, the chemical was dropped from airplanes over large areas. In St Louis, the Army put chemical sprayers on top of buildings, including schools and public housing projects, as well as mounted them in station wagons for mobile use.
Despite the extent of the experiment, local politicians had no clue about the content of the testing. The Army told the people of St Louis they where testing smoke screens to protect the cities from Russian attacks.
‘It was pretty shocking. The level of duplicity and secrecy. Clearly they went to great lengths to deceive people,’ Professor Martino-Taylor said.
